Geting Back into the Swing of Things

Good Afternoon,

My focus towards the end of last year was more on card making than scrapping.  I wanted to hand make all my Christmas cards, and I am delighted to report that I managed to do just that!  I made 12 cards in October to post to my friends and family in South Africa, then in November and December made the rest for my Australian friends and family.  I had loads of fun and used mostly Stampin Up! stamps, inks and punches.  I had loads of fun and often had a group of fellow stampers over to my house for a card making afternoon.  A good time was always had by all and they were lovely times just letting the creative juices flow!

Now after a hiatus from scrapbooking I have been so enjoying the last two weeks where I have completed quite a few LO's.  On Thursday this week I took a days leave from work and spent it with my very good friend Debra.  We scrapped all of Wednesday evening and then just picked up where we left off on Thursday morning.  I managed to complete 4 LO's and I was totally delighted!

This page was an experiment with me trying out texturising paste.  I used a stencil with this pattern and then once it was dry I coloured it with my Stampin Up! chalks.  I kept the rest of the LO quite simple as this design was quite intricate.   In this LO I used the Stampin Up! alpha die cuts through my Big Shot machine.

I am working on an album for Jessica, my niece.  These photos were taken in Zimbali, KZN, South Africa in June 2010.  She was such a delight!  I chose similar colour paper for these two LO's and they will go next to each other in the album.

I have always loved this photo which Brent took of Dawn and me in 2009.  I bought these Prima flowers when I first started scrapbooking and finally am able to use them on this page.  I wanted to use them on a spcial page!

I then invited my friend Kate over on Friday evening for an at home "Midnight Madness" (since our Scrapbooking Shop where we used to go for Midnight Madness has closed down), and we each completed a LO.  Kate scraps much faster than I do, and hers was a double LO! We hadn't seen one another for quite a few weeks, so it took about an hour before we even got settled to start scrapping!

This is one of my all time favourite family photos, taken at my parents home in Constantia, Cape Town in 2003 or 2004 (I must ask my Mom if she remembers which year it was).  I used the stunning paper from Stampin Up! (you will soon come to realise that I LOVE using shades of blue and turquoise!).  The brads are also Stampin Up! and the photo corners are Making Memories, which I won at a lucky draw at one of the Midnight Madness evenings that I attended at Scrapbook Central, Joondalup, Western Australia last year.  Sadly that scrapbooking shop has closed and is now only online.

Thank you all for taking a look!  I have so enjoyed putting this post together (It took an absolute age because I am still new to this whole blog experience).

I will certainly try and stay more up to date with posting here as I continue in the scrapping swing of things!

Hugs
Angie
